Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks (born July 9th, 1956) is an American actor and filmmaker. He is renowned for his comedic and dramatic roles and is considered an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother, originally called "Fraga" was from a Portuguese family. His father, however, was mainly English. Tom was born into a family he calls "fractured". He was not an actor in college, and credits his inability to be cast in a college production as the reason he started his career. He auditioned in the city for a production in the theater for community members. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that was where his acting career began.
